BE BOLD
It has been very clear to me that my word for 2026 is “BOLD.” As many of you know, Bill and I formed Chesed Missions a little over two years ago after supporting Abenezer Orphanage on our own for almost two years. International adoptions were shut down in 2018 leaving Elizabeth and the children destitute. Abenezer Orphanage is where our Abi was adopted from in Ethiopia in 2012 and the founder, Elizabeth, with Jesus as her guide, saved our Abi’s life. She has saved well over 500 children from homelessness, abandonment and death since she founded Abenezer Orphanage. Many of her children should not be alive today but they are…..all because one woman from Ethiopia in her 20’s decided to be bold and live her entire life for one purpose…..to love, cherish, nurture and adore orphaned children. She has lived her entire life for this mission, doing this work for over 20 years. Her entire family lives in Canada with dual citizenship and thinks she is “crazy” (as Elizabeth says) for choosing this life…..as she returned to Ethiopia at 28 years of age, leaving Canada and a much “easier” life as some would say…..to be BOLD and do the work most people would walk away from. So my word from 2026 comes from looking at Elizabeth’s life, how extremely hard it has been, how she never gave up, how she fights for these children DAILY, how she never complains and how she has walked her entire life for the mission of Christ and been the boldest human I have ever had the privilege of meeting. I will be BOLD because she has shown me a level of boldness I could never match. I will be bold for Redet, Girum, Ezra, Jose, Deborah, Naom, Muse, Yohanes, Sabrina, Sabrin, Blen and Nehemiah, ELIZABETH and the future children of Abenezer Orphanage!!!
This year I am declaring we will get them a house built in Ethiopia. They currently rent and it is not a stable environment for many reasons but mainly because they could be evicted at anytime. We have house plans for the new home. We have land in Addis Ababa that Elizabeth’s family owns. The ground has been laid for this project……now we just need YOU! We need people who truly see the mission and are willing to be BOLD and step out financially to help us fund this project.
